Letter of Dr. Que protesting the trial of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi
Date 06/01/2009 10:59  Author admin  Hits 106  Language Global

Saigon May 21st 2009.

To General Than Shwe
President of Myanmar.

Dear Sir,

We are deeply concerned about the trial of the leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
She is charged of breaching the terms of her house-arrest because an
unwanted stranger swam across the lake and broke into her home; and as
everyone knows only the junta actually has exclusive main
responsability to afford security around her residence. Therefore she
is not guilty at all in any cases including this one.
Democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi is standing trial this week and
nobody knows how long it lasts. But one certain thing is that the
junta is using this incident as a pretext to keep her under lock and key. And people around the world are doubtful about justice being served.

Our Vietnamese people with the tradition of loving truth and justice strongly protest and condemn this kind of kangoroo court to awfully punish a very
well-known courageous woman who won a landslide victory in 1990
democratic elections.

We call on the U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the democratic
countries including the United States of America, the European Union,
Japan, India...and Asean leaders to proactively press on the military
junta for national reconciliation.

Mr. President General, I trully hope that, in the era of healing
and dialogue, you would be very appreciated if you made the first step
in that direction by stopping the trial and releasing be-loved and
much respected Nobel Peace Price Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.

Buddha bless you.
Best regards,

Dr. Nguyen Dan Que
